Wrightbus is the only bus manufacturer to be shortlisted this year by the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership for one of their prestigious Low Carbon Champions Awards.

The Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership (“LowCVP”) is a public/private partnership that exists to accelerate a sustainable shift to lower carbon vehicles and fuels and create opportunities for UK businesses.

Wrightbus, in partnership with Transport for London (TfL), has been nominated for the Low Carbon Heavy Duty Vehicle Manufacturer of the Year Award. This annual Award is bestowed upon the company which has done the most in the last year to develop or supply the market with lower carbon vehicles or components that significantly improve vehicle efficiency or reduce carbon emissions.

Working in close co-operation with TfL, the Ballymena-based bus company has nominated for its work in developing the hybrid-powered New Bus for London, a totally new Double Deck bus which is set to become an iconic symbol for this world famous capital city. Eight trial vehicles are already in daily service, with a further 600 of these stylish and modern buses set to be built and delivered in the coming years.

The LowCVP Awards are now a well established annual event, with the 2012 Awards taking place on 29th January 2013, with both the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Transport, Norman Baker MP and Rt Hon John Gummer, Lord Deben, the Chair of the Committee on Climate Change, speaking at the ceremony.
