An information event on proposals for a new Metrolink stop will take place next week.

The new stop would be located off Queens Road on the Bury Metrolink line, next to the existing tram depot, and would be the first stop after leaving Manchester Victoria.

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) submitted a planning application for the stop to Manchester City Council in December last year with a decision expected in early 2013.

People can now attend a public information event on the proposed Queens Road stop on Wednesday 9 January, 3pm-7pm, Irish World Heritage Centre, Irish Town Way, off Queens Road, Cheetham Manchester.

Staff from TfGM will be on hand to answer questions and also to explain its benefits. Initial designs of the stop will also be available to view.

Philip Purdy, TfGM’s Metrolink Director, said: “This is an excellent opportunity for local residents and businesses to come and find out more about our proposals and to learn how a new Queens Road stop can benefit the community.”
