Arriva Midlands has revolutionised bus travel in Tamworth with the introduction of a brand new fleet of buses.

The 17 brand new Evobus vehicles which represent a £2.5 million investment, have officially hit the roads, operating across Arriva’s routes 3, 4 5, 7, 8 and 9.

The buses have been officially launched by Alex Perry, Arriva Midlands Regional Managing Director at a special event at Drayton Manor Park on Friday 5th October, attended by the Tamworth Mayor, Tina Clements, Christopher Pincher, MP for Tamworth, Colin Bryan Managing Director of Drayton Manor Theme Park, local councillors, council officers and representatives from bus manufacturers Daimler.

The vehicles deliver a number of benefits including; CCTV, low floors for easy access and the latest Euro 5 engine technology, making them more fuel efficient and environmentally friendly.

Alex Perry, managing director for Arriva Midlands, said: “We are delighted that we have been able to make such a major investment to services in Tamworth, reflecting Arriva’s strong commitment to providing the best possible service to the community.

“The introduction of these new vehicles along our town routes will make it easier and more comfortable for passengers to travel with us, and provide them with an improved journey experience overall.”

Staffordshire County Council’s Transport Chief Mike Maryon today welcomed Arriva’s investment in the state-of-the-art public transport in Tamworth.

Mike said:” Having good public transport links is hugely important to the county council and to residents in Staffordshire and these new, more environmental-friendly buses are certainly going to make travel by bus in Tamworth easier and more comfortable for passengers”
