Two new major orders with a total volume of 1,400 buses emphasize: Driveline and chassis technology from ZF Friedrichshafen AG is highly demanded also in Russia and the Ukraine. Two urban public transport companies (UPTN) refer to it at the same time: Mosgortrans, Moscow’s biggest public transport authority, orders 1,100 buses with state-of-the-art ZF driveline and chassis technology. Kiev’s Kyivpastrans public transport authority also relies on ZF’s chassis technology for 300 new vehicles. Moreover, both capitals are provided with steering technology from ZF Lenksysteme GmbH, a Joint Venture of the companies ZF and Bosch.

Russia is one of the most important commercial vehicle markets worldwide. The fact that important customers trust ZF shows that ZF Friedrichshafen AG is in a good position also in Russia: Mosgortrans, Europe’s biggest urban public transport authority, relies on safe, comfortable, and environmentally-friendly ZF technology and ordered a total of 1,083 low-floor buses. ZF will supply driveline and chassis technology for these buses until the end of September 2012.

Moscow’s public transport authority decided in favor of ZF’s stateof- the-art driveline technology for 820 buses: 170 Volzhanin articulated buses will be equipped with the highly efficient and quiet ZF-EcoLife 6-speed automatic transmission. The EcoLife transmission makes public transport not only more fuel efficient but also quieter: The engine speed can be kept low thanks to the intelligent design, six fine-stepped gears, and the TopoDyn Life shift program. An additional 650 LiAZ vehicles will be equipped with the ZF-Ecomat 6-speed automatic transmission.

In addition, Mosgortrans equips all 1,083 newly ordered buses of the manufacturers LiAZ, Volzhanin, and Trolza with modern chassis technology at front and rear axles. ZF supplies the RL 85 A front axle, the AV 132 rear drive axle, as well as the AVN 132 nondriven rear axle. In combination with ZF dampers, these vehicles provide for maximum safety and passenger comfort. The LiAZ and Volzhanin buses also benefit from steering technology of ZF Lenksysteme GmbH, above all the precise ball-and-nut power steering system ZF-Servocom.

State-of-the-art axle and steering technology for Kiev

Kyivpastrans, Kiev’s public transport authority, will be supplied with axle and steering systems for 296 new low-floor trolleys until the end of the year. The ZF products ordered by Kiev include the RL 75 EC independent suspension, the RL 85 A front axle, and the AV 132 portal drive axle. ZF Steering Systems supplies the ZFServocom ball-and-nut power steering system.

The highest distribution of trolley buses can be found in the Ukraine and the other CIS states. There, the demand to modernize the partly outdated fleets with new technology increases steadily.
