NAVYA and the Premier of South Australia have laid the foundations of a partnership agreement, with a view to setting up a future NAVYA Asia Pacific manufacturing facility in Adelaide.

This falls in line with the South Australian Government’s carbon neutral and renewable energy focus which aligns with NAVYA’s own global views.

NAVYA is already working to promote driverless technology, innovation and a low carbon economy in Australia thanks to a partnership launched with RAC in August 2016. Following the RAC Intellibus™ staged trial launched in Perth, WA, in May 2017, RAC and NAVYA signed an agreement commissioning RAC to coordinate the deployment of the NAVYA ARMA and provide a range of technical support services in Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia. This was aimed at supporting the fast-paced growth and global reach of NAVYA’s vehicle fleet and ensuring that more people experience autonomous vehicles. Key Performance Indicators after the first year show that the trial has been a success with more than 4,300 passengers transported over 4,200km.

“The Australian government’s enthusiasm for automated vehicle technology and innovation and our need to make our smart mobility solutions readily available to customers in this part of the world has pushed us to explore the possibilities for expansion in the region,” commented Christophe Sapet, CEO, NAVYA.

“For us, it is a natural progression in our growth strategy and we are delighted to have been able to lay the groundwork of a partnership agreement with the Government of South Australia,” he said.
