Arriva appoints a new Strategy and Development Director

Arriva, one of Europe’s largest transport companies has announced that Stuart Cockburn has been appointed as the Group’s Strategy and Development Director.

Arriva, one of Europe’s largest transport companies has announced that Stuart Cockburn has been appointed as the Group’s Strategy and Development Director.

Stuart has extensive experience gained from working with both blue-chip and mid-market companies in a range of senior roles, which include his most recent role at the broadcasting and telecoms company Arqiva.

He has delivered strategic and transformational change in industries facing new growth opportunities and disruptive change, and has led growth strategies across both Arqiva and other international organisations.

“I’m thrilled to be joining Arriva at this stage in its evolution,” Mr Cockburn said. “To be part of driving the strategic direction and future success of the organisation at a time of such change in Arriva’s markets is very exciting.”

Stuart will be a member of the Arriva’s Group Executive Committee and be responsible for strategy, business development and asset management. He will also lead the development and delivery of Arriva’s strategy and accelerate growth through the development of new territories, markets and technology, as well as developing a group-wide asset management strategy to realise cost benefits throughout the company.

“Stuart joins us at a defining time for Arriva,” Arriva CEO, Manfred Rudhart, added. “The way we deliver transport for our clients and customers is changing, and that presents to us great opportunities, and also some significant challenges. A clear focus on our strategy and how we develop and shape our way of working together is essential to our future success.”

Arriva is one of the largest providers of passenger transport in Europe, employing some 60,000 people and delivering more than 2.2 billion passenger journeys every year.
