The tender involves private bus operators in the Sydney metropolitan and outer metropolitan areas and retrofit-work is for the area under the bus passenger compartment that contains the bus engine, transmission, cooling and heating systems as well as all ancillaries.

This is an ‘open tender’ with no restriction placed on who may bid; the closing date and time is 12:00pm AEST, 17 June 2016. Tenderers will be required to demonstrate that they have the necessary skills, resources, experience, financial capacity, and in some cases licenses, accreditations, etc., to fulfil the tender requirements.

P-mark certification

P-mark certification

The fire suppression systems must be certified to either the SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden certification rules  SPCR 183 (P-Mark), including successful completion of the SP method 4912: Method For Testing The Suppression Performance Of Fire Suppression Systems Installed In Engine Compartments Of Buses And Coaches Edition 3, 2012-10-09, or an equivalent recognized certification, design and testing process. In accordance with SPCR 183 it is also required that the supplier must undertake a design risk assessment process for each Bus Type in collaboration with the Contract Bus OEM supplier, the Contract Bus owner and TfNSW.  The purpose of this risk assessment is to demonstrate that the System design corresponds to the P-Mark, or equivalent certification process.
