Bombardier‘s INNOVIA APM 300 automated people mover (APM) system has begun service at Munich Airport linking Terminal 2 with its new satellite terminal located 400 metres away. The driverless vehicles will transport arriving and departing passengers underground via a dual-lane passenger transit system helping to increase capacity. Bombardier designed, built and commissioned all of the electrical and mechanical equipment, including the twelve APM vehicles.

APM can transfer up to 10,900 passengers per hour, per direction

According to Bombardier, the new transport system is 700 metres long and can transfer passengers between the two buildings in less than one minute. During peak times, up to 10,900 passengers can be transported per hour, per direction on the shuttle service. The twelve INNOVIA APM 300 vehicles are equipped with the BOMBARDIER CITYFLO 650 automatic train control technology for driverless operation.
