Solaris awarded Italian intercity bus contract

Solaris Bus & Coach S.A. is to supply 300 intercity buses of the InterUrbino type to Rome based public transport company Cotral in a contract worth nearly €110 million.

A €110 million framework agreement has been signed for the supply of 300 Solaris InterUrbino intercity buses over the next four years to Rome based public transport company Cotral. Solaris believes it will complete the first part of the order, approximately 122 buses, by the end of this year. Apart from the agreed purchase, the contract includes maintenance of the vehicles for a ten year period.

The intercity bus with operate on regional lines in Lazio

The 12-metre InterUrbino will operate on regional lines in Lazio, an administrative region located in the central part of the Italian Peninsula. The vehicles ordered are fitted with DAF MX-11 engines developing 240 kW, which meet the most restrictive Euro 6 emission standards. There will be a modern CCTV system on board with 5 cameras enabling the driver to see the area behind the bus as well as vehicle’s interior and second door. Moreover, the buses are to be equipped with passenger counting systems and a voice announcement system.

According to Solaris, the vehicle will accommodate up to 49 seated passengers and provide air conditioning on the hottest days. There will be luggage space provided in compartments located under the floor, which have a capacity of 5.2 cubic metres. Smaller bags will fit in luggage racks installed above the seats.
