The first of the three contracts has been awarded by one of the largest bus operators in Israel, DAN. The signed agreement will see the manufacturer deliver sixty Urbino 12 low-floor city buses to the city of Tel Aviv.

The second agreement covers the delivery of thirty Urbino in 12-metre version to Egged, a prominent company on the Israeli passenger transport market. The operator is active not only in its home market, but also outside the state. Solaris explains that the vehicles are mainly to serve the lines in Tel Aviv but may also appear on the streets of Jerusalem.

The last contract was awarded by operator Afifi Group for the supply of ten InterUrbino intercity buses and ten Urbino 12 low-floor buses for the city of Nazareth.

“Israel has grown to be one of our most important foreign markets”

According to Solaris all 110 buses will be delivered to customers between March and May 2016.

Solaris buses have been present in Israel since 2012 supplying almost 200 city and intercity buses to local bus operator United Bus Services Nazareth.

Dr. Dariusz Michalak, Deputy CEO of Solaris responsible for research and development, said: “In recent years Israel has grown to be one of our most important foreign markets. This is also thanks to our local partner and distributor, United Bus Services Nazareth. We do not exclude, however, the future intensification of cooperation with other companies from Israel.”
