ATRON equips complete BVG bus fleet with on-board computers

The BVG is the largest transport company in Berlin and, together with the VBB, transports passengers within an area of more than 1,000 km². More than 1,300 buses and more than 350 trams cover over 105 million kilometers per year. Berlin’s transport companies have the largest tram and bus networks in Germany.

As part of a major order, ATRON will equip the BVG’s complete bus fleet with 1,600 modern on-board computers. The AFR 4 series devices are combination devices, meaning that they combine both the latest generation of ticket printers as well as all relevant AVL functionalities in just one on-board computer; operations and sales are therefore covered in one universal device. Omitting a second computer in the driver area in combination with excellent maintenance possibilities of the AFR 4 device leads to cost savings for the transport company. The common data basis for all transport and operation functionalities simplify troubleshooting and data maintenance in the control centre.

ATRON has become one of the leading providers of system solutions for public transport, and their portfolio includes three main areas of business: fare management/eTicketing; operations control; and passenger information.
