For the first time the Polish rail vehicle manufacturer PESA SA (Pojazdy Szynowe PESA Bydgoszcz SA) has placed an order for 36 HVAC sets with the Vienna subsidiary of the Düsseldorf traction specialist Vossloh Kiepe.

PESA chose Vossloh Kiepe as its new supplier of HVAC sets in October 2014. The good references from the Krakow transport company, Miejskie Przedsiebiorstwo Komunikacyjne SA (MPK Krakow), for the vehicles already delivered and operated successfully were decisive for the choice.

The 36 low-floor tramcars of the new generation were ordered by MPK Krakow from the rail vehicle manufacturer PESA SA already in 2013. In 2015 Vossloh Kiepe is going to deliver the air conditioning equipment to PESA for altogether 36 driver’s cabs and 144 passenger compartments. It is the intention to realise an option for another 36 vehicles afterwards.

The new low-floor vehicles, which are 2.4 metre broad and more than 43 metre long, are the longest tramcars in Poland. They can transport more than 300 passengers. Therefore, they are to be operated on the very popular line 4 in Krakow, where they are going to replace the high-floor vehicles of the type 105Na.
