Real-Time Passenger Information conference 2012

The need for Europe’s governments to encourage people out of their cars and onto public transport is paramount.

Local authorities must reduce both congestion and carbon footprint; but we know only too well that getting the public onto public transport can be challenging. Passenger expectations have risen greatly over recent years, and flight from private to public transport will only happen when transport options are cost effective, practical and attractive to the passenger.

The depth and availability of information is now regularly cited as one of the most important factors in the individual’s decision as to whether to opt away from the car. Real-Time Passenger Information is a key factor in how easy a journey is. But providing accurate travel information, particularly in times of unplanned disruption, can be difficult to implement. For RTPI schemes to work effectively, local and transport authorities, transport operators and systems providers must all work together effectively.

Eurotransport’s Real-Time Passenger Information conference 2012, hosted by Transport for London, will present best in class implementation of RTPI projects from across Europe, as well as hosting debate on best practice in achieving optimum ROI in Real-Time Passenger Information, and with cutting edge examples of 3rd generation systems.
