Rail technology leader Bombardier Transportation has signed a service contract for 32 BOMBARDIER FLEXITY Outlook trams with the Austrian operator Innsbrucker Verkehrsbetriebe & Stubaitalbahn GmbH. The order is valued at approximately 44 million euro ($57 million US) and last runs until the end of 2028.

Bombardier will perform the complete service management for the 32 FLEXITY Outlook trams on behalf of Innsbrucker Verkehrsbetriebe & Stubaitalbahn GmbH, who will carry out the maintenance work themselves.

After Linz AG Linien, this is the second Austrian customer that has decided for the recently developed innovative service concept from Bombardier. This service concept provides a high level of vehicle availability and reliability, which in turn contributes to a high level of customer satisfaction.

Martin Baltes, CEO Innsbrucker Verkehrsbetriebe & Stubaitalbahn GmbH said: “We were aiming for service and maintenance agreement that was economic and also cost-efficient in the long term. With Bombardier we found partner who supported this goal.”

Michael Fohrer, Vice President Services Central Europe, Bombardier Transportation said: “This innovative maintenance concept will set standards in our industry. The close cooperation of IVB as operator and Bombardier Transportation as Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and service partner ensures a successful delivery of a high fleet availability and reliability.”

Kurt Krucher, Workshop Director Innsbrucker Verkehrsbetriebe & Stubaitalbahn GmbH said: “Most important aspect of this project is the integration of Bombardier’s know how with the competencies and know how at our workshops. With this contract we have created a very stable long term basis for this.”

Christian Diewald, Director Sales Austria, Bombardier Transportation added: “I am especially pleased that our innovative maintenance concept has won the trust of another Austria customer. Together we will make this interesting project a success story for the passengers, for our customer IVB as well as for Bombardier Transportation.”
