Suffolk based Operator Galloway European Coachlines Limited has recently taken delivery of a new Volvo B13R coach with 9700 Prestige Plus bodywork.

The company’s new tri-axle vehicle is the first Volvo B13R to join Galloway’s main fleet, although they do operate Levante bodied Volvos on their National Express contracts.

An important factor in Galloway’s decision to specify Volvo was fuel economy. “The Volvo Levante coaches we run for our National Express contract get some excellent mileage to the gallon, so we’re hoping to replicate that type of fuel economy with this new B13R 9700,” explained Galloway Coach Travel Transport Manager, Andy Kemp.

“The tri-axle coach allows for 53 passenger seats, plus facilities, which is ideal for us considering that the vehicle will be used for a variety of work including tour work, private hire, school excursions and day trips,” continued Andy Kemp.

“In addition we liked that the B13R was specified with the theatre style seating system, allowing passengers the optimum viewing experience whilst travelling on our tours.”

Andy Kemp was also quick to praise the Volvo sales and support team, “We haven’t had any issues as far as back-up and support is concerned, but it’s certainly re-assuring to know that you get that commitment with Volvo Bus. It was also really easy to deal with Volvo Bus Regional Sales Manager, Jo Standbridge, as she certainly knows her stuff and is always very helpful.”

The Volvo B13R is equipped with the strong and fuel efficient D13C engine, capable of 420hp connected to the Volvo I-Shift gearbox. The vertical engine installation, coupled with a swing out cooling system radiator also provides excellent service and maintenance access.

“This is a first for Galloways,” explained Volvo Bus Regional Sales Manager, Jo Standbridge. “They’ve bought Volvo coaches before, but this is their first B13R to be used in the main fleet.

“We’ve built up a strong relationship and trust with this operator over the last couple of years, so it’s pleasing to see this new vehicle order come to fruition.”
