Extension work on the Paris T4 tram-train line, which currently runs from Bondy to Aulnay-sous-Bois, has commenced providing a new link eastwards to Montfermeil by 2019.
At a ceremony marking the occasion, extension work on the Paris T4 tram-train line officially commenced in Clichy-sous-Bois in Seine-Saint-Denis. The occasion was attended by Patrick Kanner – minister for cities, youth affairs and sport, Mrs Valérie Pécresse – Ile-de-France regional president, Stéphane Troussel – president of the département of Seine-Saint-Denis and Alain Krakovitch – CEO SNCF Transilien.
T4 tram-train extension estimated at €270m
The new 6.5km branch link will run from the existing Gargan junction traveling eastwards through Clichy to Montfermeil Hôpital. The new tram-train route will provide an additional 11 stops including an interchange for the proposed metro line 16 Grand Paris Express at Clichy-Montfermeil.
The extension line will be under construction for approximately two years. Tests will then be carried out followed by full operation in 2019.
Services will run from 04.30 until 01:20 seven days a week, running every six minutes between 06:00 to 20:00 on weekdays and approximately every 10 minutes outside of these hours. The journey between Bondy and Montfermeil will take approximately 30 minutes.
The cost of the project is estimated at €270 million with 49 percent financed by STIF the Ile-de-France regional transport authority and 37 percent supported under the government’s regional investment plan 2015-2020. The remaining 14 percent will be funded by SNCF Réseau.
