Scheidt & Bachmann has been given the go-ahead by the urban authority of Forbach in France to supply a modern electronic ticketing system based on smart cards and barcode tickets.

Forbus

The contract includes the integration of a central back office system, POS systems, hand-held terminals and ticket printers for 35 buses

“Scheidt & Bachmann’s fare collection system is already successfully used around the globe. We are delighted that Forbach’s urban authority appreciates the quality of our ticketing systems, especially as this gives us a way into the French market,” says Alexander Tierling, International Sales Director at Scheidt & Bachmann. “With our experience and know-how, we are the ideal partners for this project.”

The contract includes the integration of a central back office system, POS systems, hand-held terminals and ticket printers for 35 buses. Furthermore, a mobile application displays real-time passenger information to provide a new service to the passengers.

Since Calypso standard is already being used in the region, the new system will also be based on the same standard. Our interoperability with the existing regional transport system means that one of the main requirements of the transport service provider can be fulfilled. The system can be extended at any time to include more local authorities and is therefore a long term solution. Since Forbach offers a direct link to Saarbrücken in Germany, there is the option of incorporating the German eTicketing standard, (((eTicket Deutschland.

The Communauté d’Agglomération de Forbach, the conurbation of Forbach, is situated in Lorraine, which is very close to Saarbrücken. As a local transport provider, the urban authority is responsible for the travel requirements of more than 80,000 inhabitants. Nine bus routes connect the town of Forbach with the surrounding districts and provide a direct transport link across the border to Saarbrücken.
