London Sovereign operates over 140 buses and twelve routes on behalf of Transport for London within Central and North West London, which are used by 30 million people each year. The company employs in excess of 450 staff from its two garages in Edgware and Harrow.

The acquisition consolidates the RATP Dev presence in London where it now runs in aggregate 81 TfL routes with over 1,000 buses from ten garages, through its subsidiaries London United, Epsom Coaches and London Sovereign.

RATP Dev Executive Board President, François-Xavier Perin, sees in this acquisition “confirmation of the dynamic drive of RATP Dev operations in the United Kingdom, where we generated some £ 250 million of revenue in 2013 with a workforce of over 4,500, making it our largest single market”.

Timothy Jackson, CEO of the Great Britain & Ireland business unit at RATP Dev, is delighted with the idea of “working with the staff in place at London Sovereign. We look forward to pooling knowledge and best practices within our operations to offer passengers the highest quality service and ensure that we meet the expectations of Transport for London, the public transport authority in London, which are among the most demanding in the world. ”

RATP Dev is already present in the United Kingdom through its subsidiaries:

  • London United, one of the leading bus operators in greater London that runs nearly 60 routes in the British capital with a fleet of over 850 vehicles.
  • Epsom Coaches, which runs bus routes in south London and in Surrey, as well as coach services.
  • Bournemouth Transport Limited, which operates the highly successful Yellow Buses commercial bus operation in Bournemouth.
  • Metrolink, which operates and maintains the UK’s largest tram network in Manchester.
