Plans to introduce a brand new ticketing system on our tram network have taken a major step forward this week with switch on of new ticket vending machines and validators.

Although they have been powered up, we are urging customers not to use them just yet to buy tickets as they are now going through a rigorous testing programme.

Lea Harrison, Head of Services Delivery, explained: “Before they can go live, the machines – and the IT systems that support them – need to be thoroughly tested to ensure a smooth transition to the new ticketing arrangements.”

In recent weeks the ticket machines have been appearing at tram stops across the city and, when in full service, they will bring our network into line with most tram systems across the world. The new ticketing system will also allow customers to use MANGO smartcards for travel on the tram offering 25% off adult single fares.

“This is just another step towards the goal of a better-integrated transport system for the people of Nottingham.” Lea added.
